Privacy Policy

Last updated: 1 August 2026

I'm a one-man band — literally. When you get in touch about your wedding or event, your details come to me and stay with me.

This page explains what I collect, why, and what happens to it. It follows the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020. If anything here isn't clear, just sing out and I'll happily talk it through.

Who I am

Jasper Hawkins Music — a sole trader based in New Zealand, providing live acoustic and DJ music for weddings and events. I'm the only person who handles your information.

Email: hello@jasperhawkinsmusic.co.nz
Phone: +64 22 080 5085

What I collect

Only what I need to answer your enquiry and play at your event:

I don't collect anything sensitive, and I never ask for payment card details — invoices are paid by bank transfer.

Why I collect it

If you've asked to hear from me occasionally, I may also send you the odd update. Every one of those emails has an unsubscribe link, and using it doesn't affect your booking in any way.

Who else sees it

I never sell your information, and I never pass it on for anyone else's marketing. A small number of trusted services help me run the business, and they only ever see what they need to:

The only other time I'd share anything is if the law required it.

Where it's stored

My booking system stores information on secure servers in Sydney, Australia, and some of the services above store information overseas too. Australia has privacy laws comparable to New Zealand's, and every provider I use is required to protect your information to a similar standard.

Your client portal

Once you've booked, I'll send you a private link to your own planning page, where you can add your song choices and event details.

That link is your key — please don't forward it or post it publicly, as anyone with it can see and edit your event details. It shows your event information only: it never displays your contact details, your fees, or your payment history. If you ever think your link has gone astray, tell me and I'll issue you a fresh one straight away.

How long I keep it

Keeping it safe

Your information is held in password-protected systems that only I can access, encrypted in transit, and reachable only by me or through your own private portal link. I review this regularly and act promptly if anything ever looks wrong.

Your rights

Under the Privacy Act 2020 you can ask to see any personal information I hold about you, and ask me to correct it if it's wrong. Just email me — there's no charge, and I'll come back to you within 20 working days.

You can also ask me to delete your information, and I will, unless I'm legally required to keep it (invoices, mainly).

Cookies

This site uses cookies needed to make it work, plus Google Analytics and the Meta (Facebook) pixel, which count visitors and measure whether my advertising is working. If you'd rather not be counted, most browsers let you block these, and it won't affect anything else on the site.

If something goes wrong

If there's ever a privacy breach that could cause you serious harm, I'll tell you and notify the Office of the Privacy Commissioner, as the Act requires.

Questions or complaints

Come to me first — email hello@jasperhawkinsmusic.co.nz and I'll sort it. If you're not happy with how I've handled it, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner at privacy.org.nz or 0800 803 909.

Changes to this policy

If I update this page, I'll change the date at the top. Any significant change affecting current clients, I'll email you about.
